I was in an accident, what do I do now?

Just bring us your claim number and let us walk you through the process. We’ll make it as easy as possible to get your claim set up, get you in a rental car, and back on the road as quickly as possible.

Can the insurance company tell me where to have my car repaired?

No. It’s your car and your choice as to where to have the repairs done.

The insurance company says they won’t guarantee the work if it’s done at your shop because you’re not one of their “preferred shops”.

Insurance companies don’t do body work and therefore do not guarantee any repairs. At Stewart Auto Repair, we guarantee all of our body repairs and paint work for as long as you own your vehicle. Any reputable repair shop should do the same.

What does it mean to be a “preferred shop” or an insurance company Direct Repair Shop (DRP)?

The insurance companies send their DRP’s work in exchange for discounted, cheaper repairs. The shop’s performance is ranked, usually by whoever saves the insurance company the most money through discounted rates, use of aftermarket or used parts, repairing parts that should be replaced. The more money you save the insurance companies, the more work they send. More often than not, there is no equipment or training required to be on these programs.

At Stewart Auto Repair, we believe that the vehicle damage dictates the repair, not the insurance company. Therefore, we are not part of many insurance direct repair programs.
